Resumo: The environmental costs and benefits of tourism should not be absorbed by the market. The uncontrolled consumption of these resources has led, in many cases, not only to a decrease in quality for tourism use but also to harmful modifications to the destinations and their populations, as has been seen in Itaúnas, Conceição da Barra/ES, Brazil. In this context, this research was based on a questioning of the nature of the relationship between the demand for tourism, and the socioeconomic characteristics of the tourists, in order to understand the economic value of tourism use of the environmental resources in the destination, using an individual Travel Cost Method (TCM) approach. The economic value of the tourist use of the environmental resources in the destination was estimated at R$ 1,149,137.56 per year, with a total of 39,785 trips per year. The individual benefits were estimated at R$ 5.33 for each Day of travel. Faced with the pressure for growth and the need for environmental conservation, it recommends the use of economic instruments to control the consumption of local environmental resources. De esta manera, el consumo descontrolado de esos recursos ha provocado, en muchos casos, no solamente la disminución de la calidad para el uso turístico, sino también, perjuicios graves en las destinaciones y en sus poblaciones, como se puede verificar en Itaúnas, Conceição da Barra/ES. En este contexto, la investigación, que partió del cuestionamiento por el cual la relación entre demanda por visita, y las características socio-económicas de los turistas, objetivizó estimar el valor económico de la utilidad turística de los recursos ambientales presentes en el destino, por intermedio de un abordaje individual del Método de Costo de Viaje (MCV). El valor económico de la utilidad turística de los recursos comunes presentes en el destino, fue estimado en R$ 1.149.137,56 por año, para el universo de 39.785 viajes anuales. Frente a la presión por el crecimiento y necesidad de conservación ambiental, se recomienda el uso de instrumentos económicos para controlar el consuno de los recursos ambientales locales. Com isso, o consumo descontrolado desses recursos tem provocado, em muitos casos, não apenas a queda da qualidade para o uso turístico, como também externalidades danosas às destinações e suas populações, como se pode verificar em Itaúnas, Conceição da Barra/ES. Neste contexto, esta pesquisa que partiu do questionamento de qual a relação entre a demanda por visitação e as características socioeconômicas dos turistas, objetivou estimar o valor econômico da utilidade turística dos recursos ambientais presentes na destinação, por intermédio de uma abordagem individual do Método do Custo de Viagem (MCV). O valor econômico da utilidade turística dos recursos comuns presentes na destinação foi estimado em R$ 1.149.137,56 por ano para o universo de 39.785 viagens anuais. Os benefícios individuais médios foram mensurados em R$ 5,33 por dia de viagem. Frente à pressão por crescimento e necessidade de conservação ambiental, recomenda-se a utilização de instrumentos econômicos para controlar o consumo dos recursos ambientais locais.
