LOGISTIC CORRIDORS AND THE “AEROTRÓPOLIS VIRACOPOS” FORMATION.

This article analyzes the transformations that have been taking place in the territory of Viracopos International Airport (AIV), through the formation of logistics corridors similar to successful global “Aerotrópolis” logistics complexes. As a methodology, a bibliographic review of authors who approach interdisciplinary themes on urban phenomena is used. The challenges in the implementation of "Aerotrópolis Viracopos" are investigated, going through institutional and governmental issues, such as the lack of elaboration of public policies aimed at meeting the demands of the populations that live and work in Aerotrópolis and/or in the surroundings of the airport, regarding the growing need for public transport, urbanized housing and leisure areas. The main objective of this article is to demonstrate the influence of the logistical corridors that have been established in the surroundings of the AIV, and which may benefit the population through activities related to logistics so that it can enjoy the Aerotrópolis, by employing a highly specialized workforce. as non-specialized to perform primary logistics activities such as: assistants for loading goods, ordering, warehouse, stock maintenance, transport, maid, waiter, as well as cleaning and security activities. The “Aerotropolis” model, allied to the logistical corridors, is already consolidating a new territorial configuration where, using revenues from non-aeronautical sources, the availability of accessible land for commercial activities, and the increase in passenger and cargo traffic, will make the AIV a of future Brazilian hub airports, with a concentration of flights to other regions of the world.   KEYWORDS: AEROTROPOLIS; LOGISTICS; VIRACOPOS AIRPORT.
