Analysis of the educational assumptions of homeschooling in Brazil based on Paulo Freire and Matthew Lipman

Resumo: This paper aimed at analyzing Freire's concepts of integration and Lipman's concept of reflective thinking to support a liberating education, in opposition to the foundation of homeschooling in Brazil. For this, we raised the following question: what kind of education does homeschooling presuppose before Freire's and Lipman's contributions? In a first moment, we tried to understand the concept of integration in Freire to analyze the assumptions of homeschooling.  Then, we approached Lipman's notion of reflective thinking in a community of inquiry to analyze those assumptions, and we reflected on the contradictions present in homeschooling. This is a bibliographical study of a qualitative nature, based on the works of two referred authors to understand their concepts of integration and reflective thinking. This conceptual outline made it possible to critically reflect on the theoretical foundation of homeschooling in Brazil, under the sieve of critical thinking with others through an education that provides democracy, equality, and the legitimate recognition of differences. And as a result, from basic aspects for a democratic society, the liberating education, in the perspective of these authors, involves reflective thinking through the experience of dialogical and investigative integration community that contributes to the formation of subjectivity, enriched with the interaction with diversity, learning an empathic tolerance with the differences as a condition for the exercise of citizenship and democracy.

Pour cela, nous avons posé la question suivante: quel type d'éducation présuppose la scolarisation à domicile avant les contributions de Freire et de Lipman? Dans un premier temps, nous avons essayé de comprendre le concept d'intégration chez Freire afin d'analyser les présupposés du homeschooling.  Ensuite, nous avons abordé la notion de pensée réflexive dans une communauté d'enquête de Lipman pour analyser ces hypothèses, et nous avons réfléchi aux contradictions présentes dans le homeschooling. Il s'agit d'une étude bibliographique de nature qualitative, basée sur les travaux de deux auteurs référencés pour comprendre leurs concepts d'intégration et de pensée réflexive. Ce schéma conceptuel a permis de mener une réflexion critique sur le fondement théorique du homeschooling au Brésil, sous le crible de la pensée critique avec les autres à travers une éducation qui assure la démocratie, l'égalité et la reconnaissance légitime des différences. Et par conséquent, à partir des aspects fondamentaux pour une société démocratique, l'éducation libératrice, dans la perspective de ces auteurs, implique la pensée réflexive à travers l'expérience de la communauté d'intégration dialoguée et investigatrice qui contribue à la formation de la subjectivité, enrichie par l'interaction avec la diversité, l'apprentissage d'une tolérance empathique avec les différences comme une condition pour l'exercice de la citoyenneté et de la démocratie.Este artigo analisou os conceitos de integração de Freire e de pensar reflexivo de Lipman para embasar uma educação libertadora, contrapondo-se à fundamentação da educação domiciliar (homeschooling) no Brasil. Para isso, levantamos a seguinte questão: que educação pressupõe a homeschooling diante das contribuições de Freire e Lipman? Num primeiro momento, buscaremos compreender o conceito de integração em Freire para analisar os pressupostos da homeschooling. Em seguida, abordaremos a noção de pensamento reflexivo em comunidade de investigação de Lipman para analisar os referidos pressupostos, e refletiremos acerca das contradições presentes na homeschooling. m estudo bibliográfico de caráter qualitativo, fundamentada nas obras dos dois referidos autores para compreender seus conceitos de integração e de pensar reflexivo. Este esboço conceitual crítico explora a fundamentação teórica do homeschooling no Brasil, sob a perspectiva do pensamento crítico e uma educação que fomenta democracia, igualdade e reconhecimento da diferença. As propostas de Lipman e Freire enfatizam uma educação centrada na experiência de pensamento, valorizando o contraditório em um contexto dialógico, problematizador, crítico e criativo. Essa abordagem busca integração sociocultural, dando voz aos oprimidos e promovendo uma prática democrática que compreende o contexto político-econômico da opressão. A educação proposta por esses pensadores é uma práxis que articula a construção do conhecimento e a transformação das desigualdades sociais e culturais.
