The present study aimed to understand the social and historical process of the phenomenon of violence in Brazil, fostered by the current capitalist system, as well as to identify, from a critical and totality perspective, what leads adolescents between 16 and 18 years of age to enter the world of drug trafficking. Theoretical research was conducted with a bibliographic foundation, with scholars on this theme, which contemplated the understanding of the process of Brazilian structural violence and the omission of the State's role before this expression of the social issue, which has been passing through generations, and also analyzed the punitive view that the judiciary treats these young people, thus contributing to their permanence in the world of violence and criminalizing them before society. Finally, this study pointed out the need for the elaboration of socio-educational policies for these adolescents, seeking ways to realize the fundamental rights established by the ECA. This research had no pretension to exhaust the theme, but to contribute with the categories of professionals working in the Network of Integral Protection to the Rights of Children and Adolescents, and especially, of Social Service to the confrontation of structural violence and racism, a commitment established by the Ethics Code of the profession.
