Índice Anamnético de Fonseca e Avaliação da Disfunção Temporomandibular (AADOF) em pacientes atendidos no Núcleo de Diagnóstico e Tratamento das DTMs da FOA/UNESP

Objectives: This study evaluated the Anamnesis Index of Fonseca and the prevalence of TMD symptomatology (questionnaire orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders recommended by the American Academy of Orofacial Pain) in patients treated at the Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of TMD, School of Dentistry Araçatuba, UNESP in year 2011. Methodology: The sample comprised 50 patients of both genders, aged 19-75 years. The DTM was assessed by questionnaire proposed by the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (American Academy of Orofacial Pain) and Anamnesis Index Fonseca. Results: It was observed that the age ranged 15-75 years (74% female) and 62% were married and educated elementary school was predominant (24%). The professional activity was most prevalent household employee (22%) and activities of direct contact with the public (also 22%). The severe TMD was found in 38% of patients and most reported symptoms were noise (74%) and headache (72%). 56% of patients reported that they had undergone recent dental treatment and only 4% had a history of trauma preceding the onset of symptoms. Conclusion: Based on these results and the methodology applied concluded that patients treated were mostly married, with elementary education, professional activities with direct contact with the public or domestic staff.
