O jornal literário Dom Casmurro: nota de pesquisa

Since several decades press history and printed studies have proliferated in the humanities. However, not every period received the same attention. For the Vargas Age (1930-1945), when it was experienced the authoritarian Estado Novo (1937-1945), the attention is focused on the publications of the regime, especially Cultura Política (1941-1945), which occupied a prominent place in diffusion of Vargas political-cultural project. The lack of further investigation about the then outstanding publications limits the understanding of the role they played at the time. In order to illustrate that, the preliminary research results from the literary journal Dom Casmurro is brought up, which has scant critical fortune. It is expected that the analysis of such publication, which is the only one printed in Brazil, makes possible a better understanding of the dilemmas faced by scholars at the time.
