Jiu-jitsu is one martial art which is growing in the world. Thus, federations are created and competitions are organized more frequently. The anti-doping system used by these federations are extremely defective, allowing the indiscriminate use of the anabolic steroids and illegal substances. The athletes, aimed to attract investors and sponsors to help their career in the sport, make use of these substances to grow up their performance in the training sessions and competitions. The objective of this research is to analyze the incidence of the use of anabolic steroids by the Jiu-Jitsu competitors (professionals or amateurs). A bibliographical research has been conducted aimed to reach the described objectives of this work. The review was made with the help of web search engines, scientific papers, magazines, reports, aimed to approach the facts of the portrayed theme. The principal relationships between anabolic steroids and Jiu-Jitsu athletes are the competition models, the high training volume and the need to recover from muscular and joint lesions suffered by the training. Due to the faulty anti-doping system used by the federations and the fact that the sport is not often recognized by the social media, there are not so much cases registered to support this research. Therefore, it is necessary that the federations and athletes teams prize for the fair play in the competitions and mainly for the athletes healthy
