Tietê's municipality, São Paulo interior, has about 37 thousand inhabitants and covers an area of 392.509 square kilometers, has historý records from the time of the pioneers who braved the inside through the Tietê River. The fertile soil and the vast scretch of river were crucial factores to the formation of the town. Cradle of names like Itamar Assumpção and Cornélio Pires, Tietê is also home to an important cultural and religious expression. The Feast of São Benedito, takes place in last weekend of September and is held 147 years ago, holds a huge load of empirical knowledge and reflects socio-cultural factores of the city. This documentary vocals on the relationship of local population with the saint and shows the tradicion that the Feast of São Benedito means to the city. To this end, the product shows the two main pillares of festival, the religion and the Batuque de Umbigada. Using oral histories of Tietê residentes, the documentary exposes these forms of cultural expression and aims to encourage historical recovery and the strenghtening of regional identity
