Avaliação da expressão de marcadores ósseos na resposta tecidual ao MTA em animais diabéticos

The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of bone markers in tissue response to Gray MTA Angelus® in diabetic animals. Twenty-four rats were divided into two groups of twelve animals each: group 1: normal rats, group 2: diabetics rats induced by Alloxan. All animals received two implants of polyethylene tubes, one containing sealer to be tested and an empty tube for control. After 07 and 30 days, six animals of each group were killed and the tubes with surrounding tissues removed and fixed. The tubes were cut in half and a portion processed and included in glycol methacrylate to be observed in hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining. The other half of the tubes was included in paraffin for immunohistochemistry for the presence of osteocalcin and osteopontin. The control group at 07 and 30 days showed a mild inflammatory response in both diabetic and non-diabetic groups. The MTA group showed at 07 days, in both diabetic and non-diabetic groups, a moderate inflammatory response and at 30 days a mild inflammatory response, in both diabetic and non-diabetic groups. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that at 30day, MTA group expressed more osteopontin and osteocalcinthan control group. In MTA group, the expression of osteopontin and osteocalcin in normal animals was higher than the diabetic.
