Resumo: | Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of diabetes mellitus on tissue response and mineralization capacity of the MTA Angelus Branco®. Methods: Twenty-four Wistar rats were divided into two groups: normal and diabetic. The induction of diabetes was performed by application of alloxan. Each animal received two implants polyethylene pipes in the dorsal region, containing the test material and one empty tube as control. Results: After 7:30 days of implantation, six animals from each group were killed and the specimens removed and processed for histological analysis by hematoxylin and eosin, Von Kossa and polarized light. The evaluation criterion was 0: none or few cells and no reaction; 1: less than 25 cells and mild reaction; 2: between 25 and 125 cells and moderate reaction; 3: 125 or more cells and severe reaction. Fibrous capsule was considered thin when <150μm thick when> 150μm. Mineralization presence was recorded as present or absent. The control, at 07 and 30 days was observed in both groups, normal and diabetic, a mild inflammatory response, the absence of birefringent structures polarized light and mineralization areas. The specimens containing the tube with MTA white submitted to 07 days in normal and diabetic group, a mild inflammatory response with a reduction over time. Structures birefringent polarized light and mineralization areas were found at all times and evaluated in both groups. A mild inflammatory response, mineralization areas and structures birefringent under polarized light for the independent White MTA of diabetic condition on the 30th day was found. Conclusion: The research shows that diabetes mellitus did not influence the tissue response and cement mineralization capacity to White MTA base |
