Resumo: The Geography teaching for autistic students is the theme of this reported work. Classified as one of The Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), autism is characterized with a serious and global compromise in several area of development. Autistic individuals demonstrate strong difficulty regarding to social interaction, communication and imagination. Such compromises with disabilities have affected the learning process. It is estimated that the occurrence is one in each 88 births, with incidence of 4.3 in males for each female; becoming one of the most common disorders at the present time. Considering such data, the aim of this work is to identify teaching methodology implemented on autistic students in a special education institution and to analyze the aspects and themes of Geography existent on the teaching-learning process. Thusly, interviews were conducted with professionals and fieldwork in a special education school located in the state of São Paulo. At this school that attends 11 students around 5-16 years with autism, in two groups, has been noticed the practice of the TEACCH program and the concrete approach on themes of geography on the teaching-learning process

Classificado como um dos Transtornos Globais do Desenvolvimento (TGD), o autismo é caracterizado por um comprometimento grave e global em diversas áreas do desenvolvimento. Os indivíduos autistas apresentam grandes dificuldades referentes à interação social, a comunicação e imaginação. Tais comprometimentos com incapacidades afetam diretamente seu processo de aprendizagem. Estima-se que a prevalência seja um em cada 88 nascimentos, sendo a incidência de 4,3 nos indivíduos do sexo masculino para cada um do sexo feminino; tornando se um dos transtornos do desenvolvimento mais comuns nos dias atuais. Considerando tais dados, este trabalho teve como objetivo identificar a metodologia de ensino utilizada com alunos autistas em uma instituição de educação especial e analisar os aspectos e temas da Geografia presentes no processo de ensino-aprendizagem. Desta forma, foram realizadas entrevistas com os profissionais e trabalho de campo em uma escola de educação especial, localizada no interior do estado de São Paulo.
