Variações morfométricas de otólito sagitta de peixe-espada Trichiurus lepturus (Perciformes; Trichiuridae) em litoral paulista

Resumo: Abstract (english) The present study describes the morphometric variation of the sagitta otolith throughout ontogeny for the cutlassfish (Trichiurus lepturus), a commercially valuable fish commonly found in the coast of São Paulo and in all tropical and subtropical zones of the world. The specimens were obtained from pair trawl and shrimp fishing vessels that operate in the ports of Santos, also from fish markets and artisanal fishery. Males and females were used together for analysis, with sizes ranging from 102 mm to 1291 mm. After the extraction of the pair of sagitta otoliths, measurements of total length and width were taken. The results showed positive relationships between otolith length and fish length, both linear 2 0.6647 2 (y=1,8104+0,0049x, r = 0.771) and exponencial (y=0.0679x , r = 0.864), demonstrating a proportionality that can be used as a tool for growth estimates and size calculation of specimens of T. lepturus where there is only one otolith as a reference.

Os exemplares foram obtidos das embarcações de pesca de arrasto de parelha e de camarão que operam nos portos da baixada santista, das feiras de peixe e pesca artesanal. Foram utilizados para análise machos e fêmeas em conjunto, com tamanhos que variaram entre 102 mm a 1291 mm. Após a extração do par de otólitos sagitta foram tomadas as medidas de comprimento total e largura.
