Resumo: In Brazil are identified various environmental issues among the most common there are the floods. This phenomenon focuses expressively in urban areas, where the process of urbanization has a primary role being directly related to the pollution of water bodies, partial decimation and even total of the vegetation, especially the riparian, despite the current legislation, intense sealing soil, etc., which have adverse effects on the environment. Thus, this work had the main objective to determine the degree of environmental risk related to floods in the basin of stream Morumbi, located in Piracicaba / SP, where floods occur every year affecting the population, as in the case of floods in the rivers Piracicaba and Piracicamirim, historically registered. Esse fenômeno se concentra de forma expressiva nas áreas urbanas, onde o processo de urbanização possui papel fundamental por estar diretamente relacionado à poluição dos corpos hídricos, dizimação parcial e mesmo total da vegetação, em especial a ciliar, apesar da legislação vigente, intensa impermeabilização do solo, entre outros, que provocam impactos negativos sobre o meio ambiente. Dessa forma, este trabalho teve por objetivo principal determinar o grau de risco ambiental relacionado às enchentes na bacia do Córrego Morumbi, localizada na cidade de Piracicaba/SP, onde anualmente ocorrem enchentes que acometem a população, como no caso do Rio Piracicaba e Ribeirão Piracicamirim, historicamente registradas. Para tanto foi utilizada a metodologia proposta por Oliveira e Robaina (2004), que considera três variáveis: suscetibilidade natural; padrão urbano da área; registro de acidentes (eventos), que quando cruzados levam à determinação do grau de risco. Como principais resultados têm-se o diagnóstico da vegetação que indicou que parte da bacia do Córrego Morumbi se encontra conforme a legislação. No entanto, ainda há parcelas de mata ciliar que necessitam ser recompostas.
