Centralização de capital e crise do setor sucroenergético: especialização funcional e economia política da cidade de Sertãozinho (SP)

This research seeks to analyze recent transformations in the political economy of the city of Sertãozinho (SP), arising from the so-called crisis and the growing centralization of capital in the sugar ethanol sector, urgent since 2008. Therefore, we seek to contextualize the process of expansion of the global scientific agriculture in our territory, which have chosen some spaces with specific features, that were reorganized to meet the demands of this modern agricultural practice. So, arose cities and functional spaces, as is the case of Sertãozinho (SP), which had its growth pegged to its structure while an agribusiness city, specialized in sugar cane production, mainly in the supply of capital goods and services for the plants of sugarcane. In this way, we aim to analyze this formative process of the municipality, as well as the features in its structure (i.e., its productive space circle) that allow us to perform such a claim. However, we do not want just to demonstrate this strong framework of productive specialization: we will also illustrate the significant vulnerability of Sertãozinho (SP), especially after the process of centralization of capital in the sugar ethanol sector, with the acquisition of local and regional plants by large international companies, mainly from the years 2000. Related to this point, we aim to examine the origins of the so-called crisis recent in the sugar ethanol sector, seeking to observe his cause factors and the consequences that this economic moment has brought to Sertãozinho (SP). Finally, we have specified the transformations in the urban built, on labour division and the used territory, by different actors -especially those related to sugarcane activity - of Sertãozinho, these extremely negative changes to the socio-economic dynamics of the city and its population
