Resumo: | Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a complex disease and its nature is not fully understood. The use of occlusal splint is considered an effective way to treat temporomandibular disorders, since it is conservative therapy, noninvasive and reversible for many patients who have parafunctional habits. These intraoral devices are suitable for the most varied treatment of various disorders, such as sleep disorders, tension-type migraine, Parkinson and apnea .. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the flexural strength of acrylic resins Vipi Cril and Vipi Plus ® Wave ®, used for fabrication of occlusal splints, under the influence of disinfection in different solutions. 40 bodies were made-of-proof standard for each acrylic resin studied as Specification No. 12 of the American Dental Association (65 x 10 x 2.5 mm). The finish was done in lathe and polished with sandpaper following the sequence: 240, 380, 480 and 600. The body-of-evidence were divided into 8 groups (n = 10) distinguished: Group I - Vipi Cril Plus (negative control), Group II - Vipi Cril Plus + distilled water (positive control), Group III - Vipi Cril Plus + sodium hypochlorite 1%, Group IV - Vipi Cril Corega Plus + ® Tabs, Group V - Vipi Wave - (negative control) and Group VI - Vipi Wave + distilled water (positive control), Group VII - Vipi Wave + sodium hypochlorite 1%; Group VIII - + Corega Vipi Wave ® Tabs. The body-of-evidence were tested for bending test of three points. The bodies were proof-of-tensioned continuously until fracture occurs. The stress tests were performed on a universal testing machine (EMIC DL 3000). Data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA (p <0.05) and Tukey (5%). The results showed statistically significant differences between the different disinfectant... |
