Resumo: The thermal denaturation of the DNA within the Peyrard-Bishop-Dauxois (PBD) model is analyzed analytically through the variational method adapted to determine the ground state energy of a Schrödinger-like equation with position-dependent mass. The approach is used to determine the melting temperature of the DNA. The results are compatible to experimental data.
