Tratamento da superfície do esmalte dental após remoção de braquetes ortodônticos

Orthodontic treatment with fixed appliances is widely used to correct the position of teeth in the dental arch, resulting in harmony between teeth, bone, periodontal and soft tissue, and improve the aesthetics of the smile. However, after completion of orthodontic treatment and removal of orthodontic brackets, has been observed that the presence of resin residues on enamel surface may interfere on aesthetics, enamel surface smoothness, hygiene and contribute to the buildup of plaque in these regions. Thus, it was reported a clinical sequence in a young patient who, after the removal of fixed appliances, presented resin residues on anterior teeth, up and lower premolars, so was proposed to the patient the realization of surface treatments, followed by bleaching. Resin residues were removed from teeth with a 3195 FF diamond bur, followed by application of Opalustre microabrasive and by surface polishing with Enamelize paste. One week after the surface treatment, began the dentin bleaching using 10%carbamide peroxide, which was carried out for 4 weeks. It was observed that he use of microabrasion was effective for improving the aesthetics of the case, noting good surface smoothness, brightness and conservation of dental anatomy
