Resumo: Simulation models of crop growth make possible to estimate productivity and water balance components with low cost and high precision. The objective was to calibrate and evaluate the performance of CROPGRO model for the bean crop at conditions of Jaboticabal, SP. The model was calibrated and verified with data previously collected from two experiments conducted in 2002 and 2003. The treatment of those experiments corresponded to two irrigation monitoring methods, tensiometers and Class A pan, under two planting systems, no tillage and conventional. For calibration we used the 2002 experiment and in validation, 2003. Using the genetic coefficients calibrated for the IAC-Carioca, the model correctly simulated the phenology, growth of leaf area, dry matter and grain yield, throughout the period of calibration and testing, under no tillage and conventional tillage system, combined with monitoring of irrigation tensiometer and tank Class A. The moisture in the soil profile simulations agreed with the measurements obtained in the field, in both crop systems and monitoring methods

O objetivo deste trabalho foi calibrar e avaliar o desempenho do modelo CROPGRO para a cultura do feijoeiro nas condições edafoclimáticas de Jaboticabal, SP. O modelo foi calibrado e avaliado com dados previamente coletados de dois experimentos conduzidos em 2002 e 2003. Os tratamentos desses experimentos corresponderam a dois métodos de monitoramento de irrigação, tensiômetros e tanque Classe A, sob dois sistemas de plantio, direto e convencional. Na calibração foi utilizado o experimento de 2002, e, na validação, o de 2003. Com os coeficientes genéticos calibrados para a cultivar IAC-Carioca, o modelo simulou corretamente a fenologia, o crescimento da área foliar, da massa seca e a produtividade de grãos, durante as fases de calibração e teste, sob sistema plantio direto e convencional, combinados com monitoramentos de irrigação por tensiômetro e tanque Classe A.
