Resumo: The aim of this study was to identify the view of the employers about the deficient people, their job and their admission in the company. The data were collected by semi-structured interview with six persons responsible for the Human Resources Department. The branches of these companies were commerce, industry and services. Results indicated that the enterprises had employers with different kinds of deficient and their admission was done because of the working laws. The people interviewed believed that the deficient once had conditions for working but they pointed out some difficulties like: a) lack education, interest and social and professional preparation of the deficient employee; b) inadequate physical and social conditions of the company and little knowledge of deficiency; c) inadequate professional and social training programs and awareness of the company needs; d) no access to school and transportation, no incentive for the company to promote ergonomic adaptation and development social responsibility programs. The position that the deficient staff had required little qualification and the training was taken in the workplace. The conception that their difficulties were caused by their organic conditions was in all the interviews.

Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada, junto a seis responsáveis pelo setor de recursos humanos de empresas pertencentes aos ramos de comércio, indústria e prestação de serviços. Os resultados indicaram que essas empresas possuíam funcionários com diferentes tipos de deficiência e a sua contratação ocorreu, predominantemente, pela obrigatoriedade da lei. Os entrevistados acreditavam que as pessoas com deficiência tinham condições de exercer um trabalho, mas apontaram algumas dificuldades em função: a) dela própria - falta de escolaridade, de interesse e de preparação profissional e social; b) da empresa - condições inadequadas do ambiente físico e social, falta de conhecimento sobre a deficiência; c) das instituições especiais - inadequação dos programas de treinamento profissional e social, falta de contato com as empresas para conhecer as suas necessidades; d) do governo - de proporcionar acesso à escola e ao transporte, falta de incentivo para as empresas promoverem adaptações ergonômicas e desenvolverem programas de responsabilidade social. Os cargos que os funcionários com deficiência ocupavam exigiam pouca qualificação e o seu treinamento era realizado no próprio local de trabalho.
