Resumo: This dissertation deals with the Bolsa Família Program. It displays the program within the historical context of the brazilian economic policies of the last 50 years as a result of an evolutionary process of the institutions of the country in parallel to the ongoing poverty in a great part of the population, also chronicling its rise together with the socioeconomic conditions of the period. Its discusses the program’s guidelines, operating approach and people affected, showing its limitations and perspectives of performance, as well as presents and highlights its origins and objetives in the key pillars necessary for its understanding. Finally, the results scrutinizes its system of conditionalities in the levels of education of the brazilian cities through the data panel model, noting its efficiency in maintaining school students from public schools at all levels, kindergarten, elementary and high school, be it in the increase in the number of students per class or reducing school dropouts, as well as accompanying improvement in approval numbers in high school

Apresenta-o no contexto histórico das políticas econômicas brasileiras dos últimos 50 anos, enquanto resultado de um processo evolutivo das instituições do país em paralelo à continuidade da situação de pobreza em grande parte da população, narrando também seu surgimento em conjunto às condições socioeconômicas da época. Discorre sobre suas diretrizes, funcionamento e população atingida, mostrando suas limitações e perspectivas de atuação, bem como apresenta e destaca nos pilares fundamentais necessários ao seu entendimento suas origens e objetivos.
