UNATI Araraquara: a terceira idade como foco de integração

The core UNATI / UNESP Araraquara Campus was originated in Senior Project developed by the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Araraquara since 1995. The institutionalization of UNATI - Open University of the Third Age - by the UNESP in 2001 contributed to the recognition and consolidation of the work of the UNESP with population and to encourage the involvement of teachers, staff and graduate students and postgraduate students in the Project. The Core of Araraquara involves the four units that compose the University Campus of Araraquara: School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Science and Letters, School of Dentistry and Chemistry Institute. The community of Araraquara has shown interest in participating, offering and participating in the activities scheduled for the elderly population of the city and region. Aiming encourage the access of the old-aged to the university environment, enabling the acquisition of new knowledge and encouraging the exchange of experiences between participants and the academic community, the program fulfills part of the role of university extension contributing to improving the quality of life this growing population group that deserves and requires more attention, promoting the integration University/Community, being presented in this article the activities and achievements of 2013, 2014 and first semester of 2105. Currently the Araraquara Core has about 180 registered for old-aged which are scheduled various activities to meet the group demands, including technical/scientific lectures on topics of general or specific interest to this group, and varied courses. Note that the project has been fulfilling positively to improving due old-age quality, providing greater socialization and integration within society.
