Resumo: University choirs historically play an important role as a complementary training tool for higher education students, with significant impacts on the development of citizenship, social integration and establishment of a multicultural vision, as well as they are capable to allow and reinforce the permanent exchange of values between the university and the society. However, several questions can be formulated about this process: what are the real social and educational potentials of this practice? What are the main contributions of this practice to the formation of the individuals? Which values are more usually reinforced by this sharing process between university and society? This work presents a reflection about the impact of this activity and presents a study carried out with choristers, ex-choristers and people potentially interested in the university choir at the Sorocaba Campus of UNESP, where the formation of engineers is predominant, about the importance of this practice to the formation of individuals and citizens.

Contudo, diversas questões podem ser levantadas nessa relação: quais os reais potenciais socioeducativos dessa prática? Quais as maiores contribuições para a formação do indivíduo? Quais os valores mais usualmente reforçados nessa troca entre a universidade e a sociedade?
