O ensino da implantodontia no curso de graduação de odontologia: o relato de experiência de uma instituição e o perfil dos pacientes atendidos na clínica de implantodontia das Faculdades Adamantinenses Integradas - FAI

Dentistry is an area that demands a great amount of knowledge in health and basic sciences and is constantly evolving, in this sense, the discipline of implant dentistry becomes essential to good training and placement of future dentists to the labor market. The objective of this study was to check in all the faculties of dentistry, implant dentistry teaching of Brazil, reporting 9 years of experience after implantation of this subject in an educational institution and evaluate the profile of patients assisted at the clinic of Dental implantology of Faculdades Adamantinenteses Integradas (FAI), Adamantine-SP, Brazil. For the analysis of implant dentistry, 198 dentistry schools from Brazil were selected, which are accredited by the Federal Council of dentistry (CFO), of these, 52 educational institutions attended the sample, with 48.1% belonged to the Southeast and 57.7% were from private colleges. As a result, it was observed that the discipline of implant dentistry is offered in 26.9% of institutions in the fourth year of the degree course, 34.6% of colleges responded that the teaching staff of this discipline is composed of only 2 teachers, being that the format of the classes are 83.3%, theoretical and laboratory, and 16.7%, theoretical, laboratory, and clinical. It is important to note that 2.5% of institutions do not offer implant dentistry as a discipline, and in 33.3% of cases, she listed as compulsory subject. The discipline of Dental implantology at the institution studied is mandatory, the teaching staff is formed by 2 teachers and taught in 4 semester with 45.83% theoretical classes, 12.5% laboratory classes and 41.66% clinical ones.
