The high productivity and water quality of the Guarani Aquifer System (GAS) causes your farm be made for the supply of different cities of São Paulo. However, the planning and management of the use of groundwater is not done effectively in many of the cases, causing serious risks to quantity and quality of groundwater. The outcrop areas of Botucatu sandstones and Pirambóia responsible for the Guarani aquifer recharge have a high natural vulnerability. These areas when occupied irregularly can cause decrease in infiltration capacity of the soil water and thus prevent the renewal of the system. The catchment area of the stream of Palmeiras is located in the aquifer recharge areas in Ribeirão Preto. Temporal analysis of the use and occupation of land were made in the period 2003-2013 obtained through Geographic Information Systems cartographic products that assist in understanding the factors that relate to each other as climate, soil, relief, geology, and above all, anthropogenic activities. It found a significant increase in conservation tillage practices and native vegetation that influence positively the infiltration capacity of the soil, on the other hand there was the growth of the urban area and the annual crop with a predominance of cane sugar, presenting serious risks contamination and sealing of recharge areas. The results show that little has been done effectively to contain the main risks to contamination and sealing of recharge areas
