Resumo: | The Infection by Helicobacter pylori chronically affects the gastric mucosa of billions of people worldwide, it is highly prevalent in developing countries and most often acquired in childhood and recognized as the most common etiologic agent of chronic gastritis. The most widely used method of diagnosis is invasive because it requires endoscopy to obtain biopsies of the gastric mucosa. Several studies have shown that other diagnostic tests are available and that 13 C-UBT remains the best test to diagnose H. pylori infection. Although the original description of the 13C-UBT was published almost 20 years ago, the test has not yet been definitively standardized. While some studies suggest that fasting prior to testing should be mandatory, while others found no significant difference between the tests performed during fasting and nonfasting conditions. The objective of this study was to determine the turnover of carbon-13 UBT in the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori at different times of fasting and the results showed that the DOB equal to 5.0 ‰ was reached in less than 10 minutes after ingestion of 13C-urea independent of the time of fasting before the test and made. It was concluded that there is no need for the fast realization of the 13 C-UBT collection time is from 10 minutes after ingestion of 13 C-urea and the type of food ingested by patient before the test did not influence the final result |

It was concluded that there is no need for the fast realization of the 13 C-UBT collection time is from 10 minutes after ingestion of 13 C-urea and the type of food ingested by patient before the test did not influence the final resultinfecção por Helicobacter pylori afeta cronicamente a mucosa gástrica de bilhões de pessoas em todo o mundo, é extremamente prevalente em países em desenvolvimento e mais frequentemente adquirida na infância e reconhecida como o agente etiológico mais comum de gastrite crônica.
