Avaliação do índice de fraturas múltiplas em face no Serviço de Cirurgia e Traumatologia Bucomaxilofacial da Faculdade de Odontologia de Araçatuba: estudo retrospectivo de vinte anos

With the aim to verify the population epidemiological profile that was served at the service of Maxillofacial surgery and Traumatology in the Araçatuba Dental School - UNESP, a retrospective survey of twenty years of medical records of patients seen was made, checking the incidence, etiological factors, age and gender of patients who suffered multiple fractures in the face. Were evaluated 2770 records, of which 357 patients had multiple fractures in the face. It was observed a higher prevalence of multiple fractures in male patients and on analyze the association of multiple fractures to the age of patients it was noted that with the increasing of age, above 40 years old, decreased both the number of patients with fractures, as the number of fractures. The etiological factor that caused the most of the multiple fractures in the face was the motorcycle accident followed by car accidents and physical aggression. Conclusion: With 13% of the total of cases, multiple face traumas are still frequent events in the service of Surgery and Maxillofacial traumatolgy of Araçatuba Dental School - UNESP, and men are more frequently affected in these cases and the high-impact accidents, like traffic accidents, are the ones that determine the severity and multiplicity of fractures
