Among the freshmen of the first half of 2014 for the Biology course in Unesp – IlhaSolteira Campus, there was the entry of the first wheelchair student of the unity, so, arose the need to create an adjustable workbench, so that the student could use the optical microscope in the lab disciplines of Biology.The workbench was designed and built, and it is already been used by the student in the laboratory disciplines. The workbench can accommodate both types of wheelchair, electric or manual, and its top has an extension for easieraccess and positioning of the wheelchair on the workbench, to use the microscope. The workbench has about 500 mm of adjustable height (570 mm to 1070 mm from the ground), and has rubber bumpers to maintain stability, preventing accidents and facilitating the use of the microscope, as it must remain stationary. So the built workbench has a universal character, It can adapt for different users heights and different kinds of wheelchair, and ensure the safe use of the microscope, always with the correct posture an comfort.
