Resumo: The stroke or stroke is a disease that affects adults and older people and that causes motor dysfunction (in the form of commitment in the hemisphere: hemiparesis which is a muscle weakness or hemiplegia which is the paralysis of the muscles on the affected side) impairment in communication (in the form of aphasia), cognition (memory problems) in performing daily tasks of disability and functional/occupational performance by people affected by CVA. An invisible dysfunction and that goes unnoticed for the patient and sometimes for professionals who accompany him, is the loss of sensation. Such loss has consequences on the motor performance because without sensory feedback becomes difficult to perform delicate or coordinated movements. And the sensory dysfunction may worsen the affected side, since the patient does not feel the affected limb, "abandoning" the use of the affected hand. One of the great difficulties of the family and caregivers is related to the dysfunctions presented by the patient is to carry out the activities to the same extent independence in everyday tasks. The guidelines given by the Occupational Therapy Service at the time of hospital discharge on activities of daily living, for sensory recovery and adaptation activities in general, are well received by family. A systematic follow-up with new guidelines and reporting is of great value to reduce the difficulties in performing activities of daily living by patients and to minimize the demands along to caregivers. The direct beneficiaries are the family and more specifically caregivers of patients who generally are the wives / partners of patients who already have home care tasks. They benefited about 30 people and reducing demands by patients was crucial to quality of life.
