The eruption anomalies can be considered as local etiological factors for malocclusions. Among these anomalies the impaction of canines occupies a featured place because of its aesthetic and functional importance, and technical challenge that your treatment causes about orthodontists. The specialties the most involved with this problem are surgery, periodontics and orthodontics, however, it is the general clinical the identification of this eruptive anomaly, from their learning to do the routing in an objective and positive patient. In this context, the general clinical should be able to detect the eruption changes as well as to determine factors related to them. Thus, the aim of this study is to discuss the main factors to be related to the clinical situation represented by the impacted permanent maxillary canine, through a review of literature, including all papers relevant to the study
