Resumo: The accelerated aging test (AA) is widely conducted for determining the vigor of seed lots of various plant species. In this work, we aimed to study the efficiency of the AA test to evaluate the physiological quality of seeds of Senegalia polyphylla (monjoleiro), classified by size. The experiment was carried out in an entirely random design, in a 6 x 5 factor scheme (six classes of seed size and five aging periods), with four replications of 25 seeds per treatment. The seeds were separated into six size classes, according to retention or not in round sieves of sizes 15 to 19, thus forming the following lots: P15 - seeds that had sizes smaller than 15; P15, P16, P17 and P18, respectively, formed by seeds retained in sieves of sizes 15, 16, 17 and 18; and P>18, seeds retained in sieve of size 19. After this separation, seeds not aged (0 h) or aged at 45 oC, for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h, were submitted to the germination test, evaluating the percentage of germination, speed germination index, length and dry mass of root, aerial and total. The data were submitted to analysis of variance by F test, followed by comparison of means by Tukey test (α=0.05) and, or polynomial regression analysis. There are differences in seed quality as a function of size, being the smaller seeds, of size P<15 and P15, of inferior quality to the others. The AA test conducted for 48 h to 45 oC is suitable for quality evaluation of monjoleiro seeds classified by size.

No presente trabalho, objetivou-se estudar a eficiência desse para avaliação da qualidade fisiológica de sementes de Senegalia polyphylla (monjoleiro), classificadas por tamanho. O experimento foi conduzido em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, em esquema fatorial 6 x 5 (seis classes de tamanho de sementes e cinco períodos de envelhecimento), com quatro repetições de 25 sementes por tratamento. As sementes foram separadas em seis classes de tamanhos, conforme a retenção ou não em peneiras de crivos redondos de tamanhos 15 a 19, formando-se assim, os seguintes lotes: P<15 - sementes que apresentavam tamanhos menores que 15; P15, P16, P17 e P18, respectivamente, formados por sementes retidas nas peneiras de tamanhos 15, 16, 17 e 18; e P>18, sementes retidas em peneira de tamanho 19. Após essa separação, sementes não envelhecidas (0 h) ou envelhecidas a 45 oC, por 24, 48, 72 e 96 h, foram submetidas ao teste de germinação, avaliando-se a porcentagem de germinação, índice de velocidade de germinação, comprimento e massa seca de raiz, parte aérea e total. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância pelo teste F, seguido de comparação de médias pelo teste de Tukey (α=0,05) e, ou análise de regressão polinomial. Há diferenças na qualidade de sementes em função do tamanho, sendo as sementes menores, de tamanho P<15 e P15, de qualidade inferior às demais.
