Avaliação da pleurodese como tratamento de diferentes enfermidades torácicas em cães e no homem: uma análise comparativa

Resumo: Thoracic trauma with its consequent illnesses is one of the most important clinical and surgical emergency conditions in the casuistry of dogs and cats. It affects animals of all races, having no sexual predisposition or age group, and one of its main conditions is pneumothorax. Pleurodesis is a procedure used to treat dogs with thoracic disorders that culminate in pleural effusion or air accumulation (pneumothorax). And its main objective is the relief of respiratory symptoms or permanent resolution of the condition; consisting on the instillation of chemical or physical agents directly into the pleura causing its adhesion. The motto of this systematic review is to evaluate and compare the studies in which the different techniques of pleurodesis were used as treatment for chest diseases, confirming their effectiveness. Ten articles were selected and searched in electronic databases such as: Medline, PubMed and Lilacs, during the month of March 2020. After reading and analyzing the selected articles, it is concluded that the pleurodesis techniques are effective for the treatment of chest diseases that culminate in pleural effusions or air accumulation in the pleural cavity.

Acomete animais de todas as raças, não possuindo predisposição sexual ou faixa etária, sendo que uma de suas principais afecções é o pneumotórax. A pleurodese é um procedimento utilizado no tratamento de cães com afecções torácicas que culminem em derrame pleural ou acúmulo de ar (pneumotórax). E possui como principal objetivo o alívio dos sintomas respiratórios ou resolução permanente do quadro; consistindo na instilação de agentes químicos ou físicos diretamente na pleura causando adesão da mesma. O mote da presente revisão sistemática é avaliar e comparar os estudos em que se empregaram as diferentes técnicas de pleurodese como tratamento para enfermidades torácicas, confirmando sua efetividade. Foram selecionados dez artigos que foram buscados em base de dados eletrônicas como: Medline, PubMed e Lilacs, durante o mês de março de 2020.
