Nutrição enteral e parenteral no tratamento de cães com gastroenterite hemorrágica: revisão sistemática

Viral gastroenteritis has a high incidence in the medical practice of small animals and canine parvovirus is the main etiological agent. The treatment is usually to support the pacient with hydroelectrolytic restitution, antiemetics and antibiotic therapy. In this context, the nutrition of the patient has been increasingly relevant for generating some benefits in the intestinal barrier and improvements in the prognosis of the hospitalized animal. This study aims to develop a systematic review on the nutritional contribution to the caninie patient with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. A systematic literature review was carried out using seven articles extracted from the PubMed, Portal Periodico Capes and Scielo databases. The key terms used were: gastroenteritis AND nutrition AND dogs, and selected articles were published between 2000 and 2017 in Portuguese or English. The papers was classified according to the quality and reliability scales of Cook et al. (1995) and Jadad et al. (1996). The parenteral nutrition method does not provide benefits for the intestinal barrier; though, the enteral nutrition of the critical patient generates benefits in the intestinal mucosa, culminating in the decrease of the rate of bacterial translocation.
