Resumo: With the incorporation of theoretical and methodological assumptions from Vygotsky's socio- historical perspective to research in Science Teaching, language and discourse assume a central role in investigating students' conceptual elaboration processes in the classroom and the theme gains space in academic publications. In this context, the Didactic Book (DB) becomes an object of study regarding issues related to its language through different focuses, since it assumes a central role in teaching practices and mediation between the scientific language and the student's everyday language. Despite the great advance of research in Science Education in the last decades, language and discourse are still little investigated in DB, in comparison to other themes such as the analysis of conceptual errors in works. In addition, the chemistry DB is the least investigated among those that make up the large area of High School Nature Sciences (MS) and the theme that addresses the nature of language in chemistry textbooks, “speech genre” is the that it lacks most in academic publications in recent years, showing a gap in this type of study. Therefore, the general objective of the work is to characterize and highlight the presence and articulation of discourse genres in the text of the chemistry DB, based on the assumption that this constitutes a hybrid genre that incorporates, characteristics of the scientific, everyday and didactic genres. The data collection starts from the documentary analysis of the chapters “Units of measurement and properties of matter”, of volume 1, and “The speed of chemical reactions”, of volume 2 of the collection Chemistry - Being Protagonist for the EM and indicated by the PNLD / 2018. The data analysis is based on elements of Bakhtin's Discourse Analysis and aims to identify the constituent characteristics of the scientific, didactic and everyday genres, as well as aspects related to the style and thematic content, present in the text and how these elements are articulated in the construction of the genre of the chemistry DB. We concluded that the analysis made it possible to highlight the linguistic dimension of the text of the chemistry DB and to draw a profile of its genre, which relates different elements of the scientific, didactic and everyday genres, configuring a new genre, proper to the school sphere, confirming our initial hypothesis of job. In addition, we were able to evidence which genres predominate in the construction of the text of the chemistry DB and how the thematic content and style shape the new genre.
