Resumo: | Although they present higher costs than other materials, the aesthetic appearance and superior properties make stainless steel more attractive than other alloys in the most diverse applications. The 15-5 PH steel is included in the group of precipitation hardened steels and has excellent corrosion resistance up to approximately 300 ° C, as well as toughness and weldability. Stainless alloys, despite their name, can suffer corrosion processes and pitting (or punctiform) corrosion gains prominence, because as the pitting grows, they can bring up cracks. Therefore, studies that focus on the densification of the knowledge about this type of corrosion are very important and motivated the accomplishment of the present work, in which six samples of 15-5 PH steel went through thermal treatments routes of solubilization (900 ° C) and precipitation (496, 579 and 621 ° C), two samples per condition. After the experiment, it was concluded that treatment temperatures influenced the results so that those treated at 579 ° C suffered greater corrosive effects than others and that the paint used to isolate as surfaces that did not go through metallography did not adhere correctly and promoted corrosion by cracks in all samples. As roughness measurements showed an increase in value of both Sq and Sa. |
