Resumo: | Nowadays, there is a increased demand and appreciation for aesthetics. Therfore, the number of patients seeking bleaching treatments has increased over time. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of the use of a bleaching agent on the color stability of extrinsically pigmented indirect composite resins. Five different brands of indirect composite resins were evaluated (Adoro, Resilab, Cristobal, Sinfony and Epricord). Twenty-five samples of each brand were prepared and divided into five groups, according to the type of staining solutions (Coffee, Coca-Cola, red wine and orange juice) and the control group (Artificial Saliva. Afterwards, the samples were immersed in a 38% hydrogen-peroxide solution for 30 minutes, for one week. The color readings were taken using a reflection spectrophotometer in the periods: initial (L0), after 21 days of immersion in the staining solutions (ΔE1 and L1), and after 7 (ΔE2 and L2), 14 (ΔE3 and L3) and 21 days (ΔE4 and L4) of immersion in a bleaching agent. Data were submitted to the analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Three-way repeated measure factors and Tukey HSD (α = 0.05), in order to indicate a significant statistic difference between the factors analyzed. The color change was greater in ΔE1, independent of color solution, indicating extrinsic pigment action. The Resilab group exhibited higher ΔE1 values when compared to other resins. The bleaching agent (38% hydrogen peroxide-based agent) promoted a bleaching action on the surface of the materials studied, removing the previously impregnated pigments |
