Resumo: The aim of this work was to analyzed bane tissue reaction concemig to implants materials made of by titanium alloy containing aluminum and niobium (Ti-6Af-7Nb) and compared with pure commercial titanium (grade 2)- The essay was performed in 24 rabbits – New Zealand strain - about 3, 5 Kg e a eh and three and half months of age, in which were placed bodies test manufactured by powder metallurgical technology, and latter on trimmed to aflow final dimensions around 2, O mm in diameter: 7,5 mm in length and 1,67mm in screw saw, size enough to initial bane fixation. Four implants were p/aced on each animal: two Ti-6Af-7Nb in to left tibia bone, distant 4cm from one each other, and last two grade 2 titanium ín to right tibia bone. The animals were sacrificed at different periods of time (21, 42 and 84 days), and the interfaces between implants and bone tissue were histologically analyzed in decalcified and non decalcified samples. image from non decalcified samples were obtained, and then analyzed in a specific image software (lmage G - NIH, USA). Area of new bane tissue formation between grooves were calculated. Data were statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey test. Our results showed there were no statstical differences in bane tissue responses related to this two implant materials. Conceming to the analyzed period we should realized that in 21-dayssamples a quite large amount of medullar spaces and woven bane were presented when compared with the others two periods. The following 42-days-samples and 84-dayssamples díd not show any differences among them. We may conclude that 21 and 42 days were sufficient enough time to analyze osseo integration over implants that did not submitted to functional stress. Finally, we may say that Ti-6Af-7Nb alloy showed similar behavior compared to grade 2 titanium, and tl1erefore, it might be used in medicine for biological applications
