Resumo: In a world constantly altered by the forms of production and recurrent studies that indicate the need for humanity to worry about the preservation of feedstock's reserves in general, modern eyes turn daily to sustainable development. The need to live makes the importance of construction to the world is a certainty, and its impact. Positively by its use in solutions for current problems and negatively, due to its environmental impact. It is the responsibility of engineers modern sustainable concern and the challenge of balancing this scale. Therefore, this work proposes a reading of the importance of seeking a solution to a problem of the modern world, the housing shortage, and sustainably. Seeking a definition of sustainable development and sustainable construction, analyzing how to design for that purpose and proposing a project for housing programs of the State of São Paulo, where the problem of the housing deficit is worrying
