Consumption is an important category of space studies, because of the capitalist society that was consolidate in the post war period, and changed the forms and contents of cities and the urban network. These changes result in the restructuring of the roles played by the cities of different levels, particularly small towns. Given the urban network small towns tended to be more or less centrals, according to their regional integration and, despite the importance of these cities, there are few authors who have examined in their study, being given greater focus at intermediate cities and big cities. In this context the present study aims to understand the dynamics of trade and consumption in small towns, the study will explore the case of Ipeúna (SP). This town has become the focus of the work because it is inserted in the context of the administrative region of Campinas (SP) and has peculiar dynamics on the complexity of your joints, thus reflecting the atmosphere of competitiveness of the urban network and the mechanism of Ipeúna to insert on it, despite the relations of an ancient time on its inside
