The "Cárcere, Expressão e Liberdade" Group (C.E.L) works with the women at the Women's Public Jail of Franca, in order to, through workshops and activities that unite action and reflection, help rebuild the local social reality. Given that incarcerated women are doubly vulnerable, either by deprivation of liberty, whether by gender conditions our work aims to "air" the difficult prison conditions by organizing regular visits and leading activities in thematic cycles, which enables the exchange of knowledge and experiences. Furthermore, the group values the communication between prison and university, and develops specific projects, for example the installation of a library inside the prison. Thus, it is expected that the C.E.L Group is able to influence the empowerment of these women regarding their social and legal situation, in addition to stimulating the construction of their own knowledge about the justice system.
