Resumo: With the technological evolution and the consequent improvement of the materials, and of the adhesive systems, it became easier to manufacture the esthetics restorations for posterior teeth replacing with success the metallic materials. These indirect restorations for posterior teeth that are the inlays-onlays the trouble of marginal infiltration, basically disappear, having also improvements in the abrasion resistance, and the color stability. The indication of the materials are basically the same, they have similar color to the natural teeth and to point them it is necessary a judicious and specific evaluation to each case, making it possible to reach the esthetic and functional goals. About the materials, there is a composite resin that was improved with the addition of minerals making it more resistant to abrasion than the conventional resins. About the porcelain restorations, they showed at first some problems, such as the fragility of the material and the integrity of the marginal, because of the lack of an appropriate environment to the necessary cementation making it impossible to achieve the success. With the development of the extra systems to reinforce porcelain, the acid conditioned and the union of the porcelain, the subjacent dental conditioned structure can be used. With the illustration of a porcelain onlay and inlay clinical case of compost resin it will be demonstrated the technique of production, the clinical and laboratorial step by step. Each material has its own advantage and disadvantage. Thus, it is the dentist surgeon discretion to discerningly analyze the case, to know the materials, to understand and to use the technique meticulously. These restorations re-establish the esthetic requirements of the patient and of the dentist at the same time

Each material has its own advantage and disadvantage. Thus, it is the dentist surgeon discretion to discerningly analyze the case, to know the materials, to understand and to use the technique meticulously. These restorations re-establish the esthetic requirements of the patient and of the dentist at the same timeCom a evolução tecnológica e consequente melhoria dos materiais, e dos sistemas adesivos, facilitou-se a confecção de restaurações estéticas para dentes posteriores substituindo com êxito os materiais metálicos.
