The aim of this thesis is to present the study of fluvial forms and processes associated with meandering dynamics at distinct temporal and spatial scales. The evaluations were performed in the lower course of the Peixe River, western of São Paulo, in a segment of 40 km on the alluvial valley and also in four reaches with four km. These spatial scales, respectively, matched to understand the evolution of the fluvial landscape from the Late Pleistocene to channel changes on decadal interval during the Twentieth Century. The study of identification and characterization of fluvial forms and processes occurred in the alluvial valley of the Peixe River, which in this thesis is formed by channels, floodplain and terraces units. These units were distinguished in geomorphic units that leading to a variety of morphogenetic environments such as paleochannels, oxbow-lakes, flood basins, alluvial fans, crevasses and fluvial bars. The significance of these forms and the associated processes led to preliminary interpretations on the evolution of the fluvial landscape. Additionally, the study analyzes variation of floodplain width and its application for distinction of geomorphological compartments.
