Nível de infecção tuberculosa e viragem tuberculínica pelo BCG intradérmico em escolares de Botucatu, SP (Brasil) em 1969

On the second half of 1969, we investigated the tuberculosis infection level in the school children of Botucatu town, ages between 7 and 15 years old, and the intradermic BCG effect. Also was investigated the tuberculine turn over. PPD RT23 with 2UT (0,04 mcg) accordingly with the National Tuberculosis Bureau (Serviço Nacional de Tuberculose). The predominance of this infection was around 6%, what, although apparentely low, still suggests that tuberculosis is a local Public Health problem, with an urgent necessity for a better control. In general, the results of basic groups (A + B) and control (C), were not statiscally significant but in relation with the considered data, the tuberculosis was higher on ages between 11 and 14 years (included), on the non white and male, with a significant increase between the test carried. Between first and second tests in group B, the results were not statiscally significant too, but, in group A this difference was significant after the use of BCG intradermic. The results were forwarded to the Regional Tuberculosis Dispensary for the necessary control measures.
