Resumo: | The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of hypertension on tissue response and mineralization capacity of the MTA Angelus Branco®. Methods: Thirty-two Wistar rats were divided into two groups: normotensive and hypertensive. Each animal received two polyethylene implants pipes in the dorsal region, containing the test material and one empty tube as control. Results: After 7:30 days of implantation, the animals were killed and the specimens removed and processed for histological analysis by hematoxylin and eosin, Von Kossa and polarized light. The qualitative morphometric analysis of inflammatory process consisted in the description of the inflammatory phenomenon observed microscopically in tissue sections representative of each group and post operative times. The mineralization analysis consisted in the observation of mineralization areas on tissues, which was represented by black areas on tissue sections colored by Von Kossa, and birefringent structures on tissue sections under polarized light. Results: It was observed that the inflammatory response was more pronounced in hypertensive rats of white MTA group compared to normotensive rats and the control group. Von Kossa staining was positive and birefringent structures were present in the white MTA group, for hypertensive and normotensive rats. However, the most consistent mineralization areas are presented in the normotensive group. The control group showed negative staining Von Kossa and absence birefringent structures under polarized light. Conclusion: High blood pressure can affect the prognosis of endodontic treatment when using the MTA White Angelus, because this somatic state can increase the inflammatory response and reduce mineralization capacity of the tested material |
