Production of knowledge achieved by faculty and student researchers in the graduate context is necessarily shaped in information behavior. Users studies based on the domain analysis approach demonstrate to be relevant in so far as they enable the investigation of the information needs of different user communities. Thus, the study sought to characterize and analyze the information behavior of signing deaf graduate students (those that use Brazilian Sign Language), enrolled in Education and Linguistic graduate programs of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. The objective is to identify to the theoretical and practical subsidies for the organization and representation of knowledge, regulated in the ethical dimension of cultural warrant for the deaf patron that use sign language. The paradigm of the inclusion and the principles of accessibility also offered important bases for the study, which ratify the necessity of respect to special needs. The methodology based in bibliographical revision, application of questionnaire, interview and observation, both used focal group. The results demonstrate the need of the Information Organization to consider the production of knowledge also achieved in sign language registered in different supports. The appropriate informational treatment will be able to enhance the retrieval and diffusion of information for deaf and hearing people, researchers and professionals of deaf education, linguistics and similar areas.
