In Brazil, dental caries persists as the main disease to be combated, being polarized on individuals of lower socioeconomic and cultural level. This oral disease causes many negative aspects on children's and adolescents' lives. The parents' perception of this influence depends on their culture, beliefs, customs and the environment they live in. In addition, oral diseases may have an impact on the routine of families. Therefore, this study aimed to verify the prevalence of dental caries, oral hygiene index and malocclusion index of children and adolescents on social risk situations of a Beneficent Association in Araçatuba city, and also the parents 'or guardians' perception, regarding the impact of oral diseases, on their children's quality of life and family routine. Children's and adolescents' oral hygiene was assessed using the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (IHOS). An epidemiological survey of dental caries and treatment needs were performed using the CPO-D, ceo-d and Need for Treatment indexes. The malocclusion index was used to verify the presence of dental and facial abnormalities and the quiz Parental-Caregiver Perceptions Questionnaire (P-CPQ) were applied, to evaluate the parents' or guardians' perceptions on the children's oral diseases impacts and Family Impact Scale (FIS), to evaluate the impact of oral and facial diseases of adolescents on the family routine. 156 children and adolescents performed the IHOS, 150 the malocclusion index, 136 the CPO-D index and ceo-d. Still, 56 parents or guardians answered the P-CPQ and FIS questionnaires. 97 (62.2%) of the respondents had regular IHOS, 71 (46.7%) had mild malocclusion, 75 (55.1%) and 62 (45.6%) CPO-D and ceo-d, respectively, less than zero.
