The concern with the environmental thematic is a recent movement both in Brazil and in the world. Being discussed for a few decades, the subjects related to the environment and its preservation/conservation were permeating the bases of society and influencing slightly the activities carried out in the urban environment. Environmental planning is the result of this process, making territorial planning a practice that is now linked to environmental issues. The urban afforestation is an essential element to be considered in the environmental planning of cities, as it is an excellent indicator of environmental quality and quality of life in the urban environment. The varied benefits that the afforestation brings to the urban environment make this an activity to be correctly planned and present throughout the territory of the city. Despite the many benefits that urban afforestation carries with it, the necessary planning to manage it is often neglected by the responsible public bodies and their staff. This leads to a situation in which the afforestation of the routes of transportation conflicts with urban patterns that were poorly established by the incorrect and unconcerned planning of the tree's space in the city. The objective of this study is to prove the influence of urban patterns on the afforestation of public transportation routes, through a comparative analysis of the arborization of two neighborhoods in the city of Araçatuba-SP, which can be a determining element for this to be presented in an integral and comprehensive manner, or in an irregular and conflicted way with the urban environment. The choice of study areas was chosen in the Santa Luzia and Morumbi neighborhoods, with similar characteristics in size and occupation (residential). Data collection took place through field visits in both quarters conducted by the researcher.
