Avaliação dos tipos de tempo meteorológico na cidade de Presidente Prudente-SP

This monograph seeks to propose a methodological essay, as well as a discussion about the definition of weather types, since the notion of weather types still constitutes a significant obstacle to Climatology, especially the Brazilian one, since it has a vague definition and also because there are few studies related to this topic. In order to reach the determined targets, a data survey was carried out for the period from March 2013 to January 2014, totalizing eleven months together with the Conventional Meteorological Station of the State University of São Paulo Julio de Mesquita Filho - Faculty of Science and Technology of Presidente Prudente (FCT / UNESP) as well as a bibliographical survey related to the theme and mainly of studies already existing in the city chosen for study that is Presidente Prudente / SP. After all data collection, three types of weather were determined: Fair / Open Weather, Transient Weather, and Stormy Weather. After a month-by-month analysis of satellite images to validate these types of meteorological weather associated to the sources of heat, humidity and momentum on the surface, indirectly inventoried from systematic observations of some climatic elements (i) insolation, (ii) Rainfall, (iii) direction of the winds, (iv) air temperature, (v) relative humidity, (vi) cloudiness, and (vii) atmospheric pressure. The study also contributes to highlight the importance of the observer's empirical practice to estimate what is happening over time, the local scale factor and extrapolation to the regional scale
