Uso de reforço metálico em Co-Cr para reabilitação em prótese total: relato de caso clínico

Resumo: The use of complete dentures is consensus in dentistry. Acrylic resin is the most used material of saddle fabrication of them because its favorable aesthetic properties, easy handling and low cost. However, its mechanical properties as fatigue resistance and impact not always are satisfactory, and this fact generates considerable cases of need for repairing annually. With the aim to improve these characteristics there are some techniques to solve these problems as fiber incorporation (carbon, aramid), more thicker saddles, and metallic reinforcement. The metallic reinforcement of a complete denture can reduce significantly the incidence of fractures and can be better to dimensional stability and precision and not altering so much their heavy. This work has the aim to report a clinical case which metallic reinforcement of Co-Cr was used in an upper complete denture as opposed to lower removable partial denture. The patient become so much receptive and happy after prostheses installation. The clinical case was follow-up of 1 year with no associated problems

A resina acrílica é o material mais usado na confecção das bases de próteses totais, devido a suas propriedades estéticas favoráveis, fácil manipulação e baixo custo. No entanto, suas propriedades mecânicas, como resistência à fadiga e ao impacto nem sempre são satisfatórias, e isto é refletido em grande número de reparos em próteses realizados anualmente. Com o intuito de melhorar essas propriedades, existem diversas técnicas que nos permitem resolver esse problema, tais como incorporação de fibras de carbono, aramida, bases mais grossas, e reforço com estrutura metálica. O reforço metálico de uma dentadura pode reduzir substancialmente a incidência de sua fratura e pode ser melhor para sua a estabilidade dimensional e precisão, não alterando demasiadamente o peso. Este trabalho tem como objetivo relatar um caso clínico onde foi utilizado um reforço metálico em Co-Cr de uma prótese total superior em oposição à prótese parcial removível classe I inferior em que o paciente se mostrou altamente receptivo e contente após a instalação das próteses.
