Resumo: The present research has the following purposes: to describe the argumentative meanings of the word man in 80 s brazilian punk songs lyrics and, from this, to verify they are similar, because the songs were composed in the same historical context, or they are different. With this first investigation, we intend knowing these group s worldview, checking especially if they were just young rebels against everything and everyone or if they really had something to add in social and political awareness of the Brazilians. Therefore, the general objective of this work is to understand the argumentative meanings of words and sentences by the Oswald Ducrot and Marion Carel s theory of argumentation within language interpretative instruments, to improve the student s efficiency in reading. To be able to fulfill what was proposed was chosen as the research investigative procedure in books, websites, those groups albums, videos and documentaries, looking for a material as consistent as possible, given that punk always culture was lower than reported and documented. Initially, it was a research on the socio-political context in which emerged the Brazilian punk rock groups, and then held a research about the history of the punk movement in the world and in Brazil. Regarding the international Punk, we considered the two main poles of the appearance and organization of the movement: U.S. and UK, both of which served as examples to the ideology and practices of the punk of other nationalities. Later, then, the Semantic Blocks Theory was applied in eight lyrics. These lyrics were composed by four different artists from various regions of the country, in order to find and characterize the argumentative meanings of the word "man", meeting the objective of this work. Thus, the results obtained from the analysis of the corpus are basically these: some bands speak of "man" as the male, dealing with issues related to this genre (including the influence of experience in relationships, the pressure on the man to be strong, for example), and others deal with "man" in relation to the human being, characterizing him as proud, greedy and reckless. Finally, the punks were not just angry teenagers against everything and everyone. In their music, they brought rich reflections on important issues such as: rural migration, deforestation, greed, corruption, social inequality, neglect of the environment, unemployment, prejudice, wars, among others. They didn t have the backing of major labels for his work to come to most of the public. However, their greatest artistic intention was (and remains) to make a subculture, far from the shackles of alienating system. Thus, they participated in all stages of any activity that they were willing to do. And if more people could hear them, their art would help to build more critical, fair and conscientious society.

Thus, they participated in all stages of any activity that they were willing to do. And if more people could hear them, their art would help to build more critical, fair and conscientious society. Made available in DSpace on 2018-01-10T18:09:15Z (GMT).
