Resumo: The union of scientific knowledge with the needs of the population is essential to assist the public power to make effective decisions in terms of policies and actions to improve the quality of life of society and conservation of the environment. The general objective of this study is to contribute to the Rio Grande do Sul Sustainable Development Agenda, proposing contributions to foster sustainable production and consumption through family agriculture in the COREDE Produção region with the participation and awareness of society. The State of Rio Grande do Sul is divided into 28 Regional Development Councils (COREDES) which aim to formulate and execute regional strategies, consolidating them in strategic regional development plans. This work covers one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12) addressed by the UN where 193 member countries, including Brazil, have committed themselves to take actions favoring themes related to sustainable development. In this context, to deepen the knowledge of the possibilities for the region, the qualitative and quantitative diagnosis took into account the 21 municipalities in the COREDE Produção region. As a result, it was obtained from indicators a diagnosis of the region based on 5 axes: water, energy, food, waste, and greenhouse gases. The performance evaluation of the municipalities concerning SDG 12 was also carried out using two adapted methodologies: Muff 2017 and UN 2016. Besides, global actions related to these axes were also presented and divided into developed and underdeveloped countries and the replication of one of these initiatives in one of the municipalities on the regional border. With the participation of local actors, the region's potential and challenges for family agriculture were presented, as well as a pilot project that took into account a producer market and the reduction of plastic bags. The reduction incentive was given through the dissemination of information and partnerships with local companies for the manufacture and use of returnable bags. This project contributed to the environment and the local community through environmental education and sustainability. Finally, contributions for more sustainable family agriculture were presented, taking into account the involvement of the population, social, environmental, and economic issues, as well as the activities of production, distribution, and consumption of food. In this sense, the goals of SDG 12 can be achieved with practical actions, public interest, partnerships, the involvement of society, and the development of researches.

Submitted by Jucelei Domingues (jucelei@upf.br) on 2022-05-06T19:40:29Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2020LeilaDalMoro.pdf: 8135271 bytes, checksum: 6863808d105c87e58e298d6acdd2678f (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-05-06T19:40:29Z (GMT).
